Key Points
From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.
Nationwide, from May 1 to October 13, 2023, the following cases were confirmed: 1,262 imported cases of dengue, 24 imported cases of chikungunya, and 7 imported cases of Zika.
In Occitanie, since May 1, 2023, 123 imported cases of dengue, 2 imported cases of chikungunya, and 18 cases of locally transmitted dengue have been identified. No cases of Zika have been identified.
To limit the risk of local transmission, 237 entomological surveys and 201 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.
This season, two episodes of local dengue transmission were identified in Occitanie. The episode in Gagnières in the Gard department is still under investigation; the one in Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales department is considered closed.
