Resurgence of measles transmission? Vigilance is required. Since the last wave of measles cases in France—which was particularly severe in the Midi-Pyrénées region and peaked in late April 2011—all indicators had returned to very low levels. In recent weeks, measles cases have once again been reported across all French regions. Several data sources consistently indicate that measles vaccination coverage among children has increased significantly recently. Thus, two-dose coverage among 6th and 10th graders is estimated to have reached 88% in 2011 following the intensive awareness campaign of 2010 (unconsolidated data). However, this coverage remains insufficient to prevent a resurgence of the epidemic. [...]
