Key Points - Assessment of the Health Situation as of June 21
Heat wave risk monitoring: The data being tracked (cases of heat-related illness, heat indices, etc.) do not currently show any particular trend.
Monitoring of respiratory illnesses:
Asthma: Emergency department activity remains stable compared to previous weeks
Pneumonia: low activity
Shortness of breath/respiratory failure: few cases diagnosed in emergency departments or by doctors from the SOS Médecins associations.
Vector-borne diseases: Since May 1, 2013, the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Health Agency (ARS) has received 11 reports of travelers returning from trips with symptoms consistent with chikungunya or dengue. Of these, 3 were confirmed as dengue. These individuals were infected while traveling in New Caledonia, Thailand/Laos, and Brazil. To date, no cases of local transmission have been identified in Languedoc-Roussillon.
