Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of August 2, 2012
Key points:
Hospital ActivityThe proportion of patients whose residential ZIP code is outside the region continues to rise, but remains lower than what was observed in the previous two years. Due to IT issues, the usual statistical methods could not be applied to the data from the SRVA this week.
Summer SurveillanceThe indicators being monitored show no particular trends.
Vector-borne disease surveillanceTwo new reports of suspected cases were received in the last 7 days, bringing the total to 66 reports. No locally acquired cases of chikungunya or dengue have been detected. To date, 1 case of chikungunya and 5 cases of imported dengue have been confirmed; all were acquired during travel to an endemic area.
Non-specific surveillance: The number of gastroenteritis cases reported in week 2012-30 is slightly higher than expected for this time of year. Surveillance dashboards also report several cases of foodborne outbreaks.
