Heat Wave Monitoring in the Midi-Pyrénées Region. Epidemiological Update as of August 20, 2012

Yesterday, Sunday, the following high temperatures were recorded: 39.9 degrees in Gourdon, 38.5 degrees in Albi, 38.2 degrees in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, and 35.2 degrees in Toulouse. This Monday morning, low temperatures remain high across much of the eastern half of the country, ranging from 19 to 23 degrees.On Monday afternoon, maximum temperatures will remain high from Corrèze to the Tarn and the Toulouse region, ranging from 34 to 37 degrees. The area of extreme heat will then tend to shift eastward compared to previous days, and the heat will ease in the Southwest.Low temperatures overnight will drop slightly, still reaching 20 to 23 degrees in eastern Aquitaine, from southern Limousin to the southern Massif Central and the Toulouse region, as well as locally in the Pyrenean valleys.On Tuesday, minimum and maximum temperatures will remain high along the eastern flank of France and in the interior of Midi-Pyrénées. On Wednesday, a significant cooling trend will take hold across nearly the entire country (with the exception of the lower Rhône Valley), featuring notably cool minimum temperatures overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. This will mark the end of this heatwave.
