2015 Vaccination Schedule and RecommendationsChanges to the vaccination schedule have been proposed by the Technical Committee on Vaccinations (CTV) of the High Council for Public Health (HCSP). The 2015 schedule does not include any new recommendations for the general population, but only minor changes from last year; the main updates concern the revised guidelines for managing:

• one or more cases of invasive meningococcal infection,

• one or more cases of pertussis.

First Study on Mortality Among Prison StaffThe French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS), in partnership with the prison administration, has published the first analysis of the causes of death among current and former prison staff for the period 1990–2008. This study is part of a broader initiative by the prison administration to address occupational health among its staff. The study covers nearly 43,665 individuals across five occupational categories (correctional supervision, rehabilitation and probation, administration, technical services, and management). The role of correctional officer was the most common, among both men (89%) and women (46%). Among the 1,754 deaths recorded between 1990 and 2008, malignant tumors were the leading cause of death (1 in 3 deaths), ahead of violent deaths—accidents, suicide, etc. - (1 in 5) and cardiovascular diseases (1 in 6). These results do not reveal excess mortality from all causes among prison staff compared to the general French population. However, an excess of suicides is observed among men (+21% compared to the general French population), particularly among correctional officers and technical assistants. The study does not, however, reveal a link with the type of facility or the prison occupancy rate. The observed excess likely does not have a single cause, and the available data do not allow for an exploration of the role of personal and occupational factors.
