Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of May 17, 2024.

Key Points

  • From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.

  • In Occitanie, from May 1 to 16, 2024, six imported cases of dengue were identified.

  • To limit the risk of local transmission, 9 entomological surveys and 2 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of the cases.

  • Nationwide, 98 imported cases of dengue were identified between May 1 and 14, 2024. No imported cases of chikungunya or Zika were identified.

  • Since the beginning of the year, there has been particularly high import pressure, linked to the ongoing circulation of the dengue virus in Martinique and Guadeloupe.
