Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Bulletin dated July 17, 2025.
Key Points
From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.
In Occitanie, from May 1 to July 15, 2025, 64 imported cases of dengue and 84 imported cases of chikungunya were identified. Three locally acquired cases of chikungunya were identified in the Hérault and Gard departments. Three new highly suspected locally acquired cases who had visited the same area (the town of Castries in the Hérault) were also identified.
To limit the risk of local transmission, 173 entomological surveys and 106 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of the cases.
Nationwide, from May 1 to July 15, 2025, the following were identified:
581 imported cases of dengue, 49% of whom had returned from Guadeloupe or Martinique,
799 imported cases of chikungunya, 81% of which were returning from Réunion,
1 imported case of Zika.
