Occupational diseases (ODs) encompass all illnesses that any physician—and particularly occupational physicians—determine, based on their expertise during a medical examination, to be related to work activities and that are not recognized by a social security system. As a result, they are not included in the annual social security statistics. As part of its mission to conduct epidemiological surveillance of occupational risks, Santé publique France has, in close collaboration with the Occupational Health Inspection (Directorate General of Labor), implemented a program to monitor ODDs for the past twenty years. In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, this program is jointly conducted by Santé publique France, the Occupational Health Inspection of the Regional Directorate for the Economy, Employment, Labor, and Solidarity (DREETS), and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Health Observatory (ORS). The results from the two two-week periods in 2023 are presented in this brochure. 4,312 employees were seen during consultations during these two-week periods. 315 MCP cases involving 296 employees were reported. 3.3% of employees had a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD). 4.4% of employees had a condition related to psychological distress at work, with a prevalence nearly three times higher among women. 78% of conditions corresponding to an occupational disease were not reported as such.
