Public Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of June 25, 2015.
MortalityIn week 24 of 2015, the mortality rate recorded by the civil registry offices participating in the surveillance program was below the expected levels for this period.
Emergency room visits by vulnerable populations: According to available data, emergency room activity for those aged 75 and older and those under 1 year of age is in line with expectations.
Chikungunya and dengue: enhanced surveillance in Gironde and Lot-et-GaronneSince May 1, 24 suspected cases have been reported. Among them, 1 imported case of dengue and 3 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. In total, as of June 19, in the 20 metropolitan departments subject to enhanced surveillance, 168 suspected cases have been reported. Among these, 22 imported cases of dengue and 7 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. There are no locally acquired cases.
Notifiable Diseases (ND)No unusual situation this week.
Acute Gastroenteritis (AG) In Aquitaine, as at the national level, activity for gastroenteritis remains low, within expected seasonal ranges.
Asthma and AllergiesIn Aquitaine, as at the national level, consultations for asthma and allergies are declining, in line with a decrease in the circulation of pollen allergens. Forecast for this week: moderate to high pollen allergy risk for grass pollen in the region.
Respiratory virology and enterovirus meningitis: A high number of enterovirus meningitis cases (3 from the University Hospital and 8 from Oscour®), consistent with what is being observed nationwide.
ChickenpoxIn Aquitaine, chickenpox activity is low, below expected levels for this time of year.
Heat-related illnessesNo significant changes in heat-related illnesses according to the Oscour® network and SOS Médecins. No heat wave is forecast by Météo France as of June 25, 2015.
