Mortality: The
recorded mortality rate (all ages, 75 and older) for the last three weeks of June is within the range typically observed during this season.
Emergency department visits by vulnerable populations
No significant changes to report regarding emergency department visits by vulnerable populations (75 years and older and under 1 year of age).
Reportable Diseases (MDO)
No notable changes this week.
Chickenpox
According to the SOS Médecins associations, activity related to chickenpox continues to decline.
Acute gastroenteritis (AGE) Both
nationally and regionally, the number of AGE-related visits to hospital emergency departments and private practices is low, in line with expected levels for this time of year.
Vector-borne diseases
In Lot-et-Garonne, since the resumption of enhanced surveillance for chikungunya and dengue on May 1 (procedure on page 8), one imported case of dengue has been confirmed by the National Reference Center for Arboviruses.
Asthma and allergies
In France as well as in Aquitaine, asthma activity is stable, and emergency department visits for allergies are increasing moderately.
Heat-related illnesses
Visits to emergency departments and use of SOS Médecins services for heat-related illnesses are on the rise in France as well as in Aquitaine.
Viral
Meningitis Since S22, there has been an increase in the number of enteroviruses isolated by the Bordeaux University Hospital, which aligns with the number of viral meningitis cases reported by the Oscour network.
School absenteeism Monitoring
of the school absenteeism indicator by the Sent Ecole network has been completed. This year, the trend in the school absenteeism indicator—excluding exceptional values not related to health causes—aligns with the trends in surveillance indicators for winter illnesses. A comprehensive report will be published in September 2013.
