Bronchiolitis
The epidemic continues for the third consecutive week with high activity levels in week 12 of 2021 in both primary care and emergency departments; however, bronchiolitis-related activity remains lower than in previous seasons:
69 SOS Médecins consultations were recorded, representing 7.6% of activity among children under 2 years of age (compared to 6.9% in week 11).
118 emergency department visits were recorded, representing 9.9% of activity among children under 2 years of age (compared to 10.1% in week 11), of which 54 were followed by hospitalization, representing 46% of bronchiolitis cases; 37% of hospitalized cases were under 3 months of age (compared to 18% in week 11)
22% of hospitalizations among children under 2 years of age were for bronchiolitis.
High circulation of RSV in the region, with a sharp increase in the number of RSV cases detected by virology laboratories at the region’s university hospitals.
