West Nile and Usutu

  • First identification of locally acquired human cases (infection contracted in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region) of WNV infection outside the Mediterranean region in mainland France;

  • From May 1 to November 30, 2023, 29 locally acquired human cases of West Nile virus infection identified as probable or confirmed, and 8 locally acquired human cases of Usutu virus infection;

  • 7 locally acquired human cases could not be classified with certainty (flavivirus infection).

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • From May 1 to November 30, 2023, 186 imported cases of dengue identified as probable or confirmed and 4 imported cases of chikungunya; no imported cases of Zika;

  • travel areas most commonly reported by imported dengue cases: Martinique and Guadeloupe;

  • no indigenous cases of dengue, chikungunya, or Zika identified in the region.
