Nineteen episodes of local transmission detected:

  • As of October 8, 2025, in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, 18 episodes of local transmission of chikungunya have been identified: 1 in Charente (15 cases), 5 in Charente-Maritime (10 cases in total), 1 in Corrèze (14 cases), 2 in Dordogne (97 cases), 4 in Gironde (6 cases), 2 in Landes (3 cases), 1 in Pyrénées-Atlantiques (3 cases), 1 in Deux-Sèvres (1 case), and one case exposed in both Charente-Maritime and Gironde;

  • An episode of local dengue transmission identified in Gironde (3 cases detected as of October 8, 2025).

Summary of imported cases:

  • From May 1 to October 6, 2025, 150 imported cases of chikungunya and 121 imported cases of dengue identified as probable or confirmed in the region;

  • Most of these individuals were returning from a trip to the French overseas territories.
