Surveillance of bronchiolitis in the Normandy region. Update as of December 1, 2016.
Key Points
Monitoring of all regional indicators shows that activity related to bronchiolitis in infants continued to increase in week 2016-47, following the same trends observed at the national level. This increase, which was limited to the Upper Normandy region in week 2016-46, has now spread to the entire Normandy region in week 2016-47. This situation marks the start of the epidemic phase in Normandy, as in six other metropolitan regions, five of which are in northern France.Based on observations of previous winter seasons in Normandy, we can expect the increase in bronchiolitis-related activity to continue over the coming weeks, reaching a peak by the end of December.
