Surveillance of Acute Gastroenteritis in Upper and Lower Normandy as of October 8, 2014

Epidemiological Situation

Indicators for acute gastroenteritis reported by emergency departments in Normandy remain stable, consistent with observations from previous years. However, those reported by the SOS Médecins associations in both regions indicate an increase in activity since week 39 of 2014, particularly for the Caen-based association. The proportion of cases and the number of diagnoses related to acute gastroenteritis reported by the SOS Médecins associations exceed the values typically observed at this time of year. Such values are usually seen at the onset of an epidemic.
