Health Surveillance in Normandy. Bulletin of July 4, 2025.

Key Points

Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika

  • Since the start of enhanced surveillance on May 1, 59 cases of arboviral diseases have been reported in Normandy, all of which were imported (35 cases of dengue and 24 cases of chikungunya). No locally acquired cases have been reported in the region.

Thunderstorm asthma

  • Several departments were placed under a thunderstorm alert during the month of June, including an episode coinciding with pollen counts that could trigger thunderstorm asthma. An increase in calls to the SOS Médecins Rouen association was observed on June 14. An increase in emergency room visits across Normandy for asthma was also observed on that same day and on June 15, 2025.

Heat and Health

  • In June, Normandy experienced two heat waves. From a health perspective, there were increases in SOS Médecins calls for heatstroke and dehydration, as well as emergency room visits for hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia during these two periods, particularly on June 21 and June 29, 2025.
