Health Surveillance in Normandy. Bulletin of January 16, 2025.
Key Points
Influenza and Flu-Like Illness
The flu epidemic continues in Normandy, with a decline in virological indicators and hospital activity. Community activity is stabilizing at a high level. Although slightly lower than last week, the proportion of deaths (reported via electronic death certificates) with a mention of influenza remains high. The influenza viruses detected by hospital laboratories are mainly type A, subtype H1N1, and to a lesser extent type B.
Bronchiolitis
After seven weeks of a bronchiolitis epidemic, Normandy is entering the post-epidemic phase. All indicators, both in the community and in hospitals, are declining and beginning to approach pre-epidemic baseline levels.
Acute gastroenteritis
Outpatient activity (SOS Médecins) for acute gastroenteritis is rising sharply across all age groups, particularly among those under 15, with no impact on emergency department activity at this stage.
