Health Surveillance in Normandy. Bulletin of January 14, 2026.
Key Points
Flu
The flu outbreak is still ongoing, but indicators are generally declining in Normandy, with the exception of activity reported by SOS Médecins. The latter shows an increase in cases among those under 15, which could be explained by the return to school and the doctors’ strike. For the first time since the start of the epidemic, the proportion of deaths citing influenza among electronic death certificates is decreasing, though it remains high.
Severe cases of influenza requiring hospitalization in intensive care, reported by the sentinel intensive care network, are predominantly men (66%), with comorbidities in 88% of cases. The mortality rate among these patients is 19%.
Bronchiolitis
After eight weeks of the bronchiolitis epidemic, Normandy has entered the post-epidemic phase.
All indicators, in the community and in hospitals, are declining. The circulation of RSV has slowed but remains at a moderate level.
