Health Monitoring in Normandy. Update as of October 18, 2023.

Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • Normandy is in the pre-epidemic phase for the third consecutive week, with activity indicators stabilizing at SOS Médecins and in emergency departments. Activity levels are comparable to those observed during the same period in the previous two years, indicating another early onset. Virological data show a predominance of circulating rhinoviruses and enteroviruses; however, the number of isolated RSV cases rose sharply in week 41.

COVID-19

  • COVID-19 activity is declining at SOS Médecins and stable in emergency departments. The regional incidence rate is falling again, dropping to 33 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (vs. 39 cases per 1,000,000 inhabitants in Week 40; -15%). The peak of the current epidemic wave in the region may have passed.

ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection)

  • Activity for mild ARIs is stable at SOS Médecins and slightly increasing in emergency departments.

Asthma

  • Asthma activity is slightly down but remains at high levels at SOS Médecins and in emergency departments. With the increase in ARIs, this activity will likely remain high in the coming weeks.
