Health Monitoring in Normandy. Update as of February 7, 2024.

Key Points

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • Activity levels for acute gastroenteritis are rising in emergency departments, primarily among children, and are currently at a moderate level. Indicators in urban areas (SOS Médecins) are decreasing but remain at a moderate level.

Influenza

  • Activity indicators for influenza continue to rise, both in the community (SOS Médecins) and in hospitals (emergency departments and hospitalizations following initial visits).

  • The number of influenza viruses isolated in university hospital virology laboratories also continues to rise. Type A viruses, particularly the H1N1 subtype, account for the majority of positive samples in hospitals.

  • All reported clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in long-term care facilities (LTCFs) are linked to influenza in S05.

  • Several severe cases of influenza have been reported by intensive care units participating in surveillance (non-exhaustive surveillance).

Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia

  • After several weeks of decline, the various indicators for pneumonia are rising slightly again, both in the community (SOS Médecins) and in hospitals (emergency departments). Their levels remain higher than those observed in previous years during the same period. The positivity rate for Mycoplasma pneumoniae in hospital specimens is also rising again.

COVID-19

  • Activity levels for Covid-19 are low.
