COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of May 26, 2022
Key Points
In week 20 in Île-de-France, the decline in virological and hospital indicators continued, confirming the decrease in SARS-CoV-2 circulation. However, circulation remained at high levels, calling for continued vigilance.
The crude incidence rate stood at 202 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and declined for the seventh consecutive week.
The same downward trend was observed overall for the positivity rate (10.4%) at the regional level and across all departments in the Île-de-France region.
The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant has been predominant in Île-de-France since late February 2022.
SI-VIC data showed a decrease in new hospitalizations, new admissions to intensive care, and COVID-19-related hospital deaths.
Vaccination coverage is increasing slowly in the region.
Given that SARS-CoV-2 is still circulating, albeit at a declining rate, vaccination (and booster shots) for all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
