Bronchiolitis Surveillance

  • In mainland France, epidemiological data show that the number of emergency department visits for bronchiolitis has returned to low levels, signaling the end of the winter epidemic.

  • In Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy, outpatient and hospital indicators have been declining overall for the past 6 weeks.

Surveillance of influenza-like illnesses

  • In mainland France, the number of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness is increasing, but at a slower rate than in previous weeks: the peak is expected to be near.

  • In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy regions, indicators are generally at a high level, exceeding regional epidemic thresholds for the 9th consecutive week: the peak has been reached.

Surveillance of severe influenza cases

  • In mainland France, 728 severe cases of influenza have been reported this season, including 50 in Nord-Pas-de-Calais and 13 in Picardy. The majority of cases had risk factors for complicated influenza and were infected with an influenza A virus.

Surveillance of acute gastroenteritis

  • In mainland France, the incidence of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice is below the epidemic threshold.

  • In Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy, calls to SOS Médecins are close to expected levels, below regional epidemic thresholds. Visits to emergency departments for gastroenteritis remain moderate.
