Health Monitoring in the Hauts-de-France Region. Update as of November 2, 2023.

Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • Pre-epidemic phase for the second consecutive week.

  • In week 43, bronchiolitis activity was clearly on the rise in the region’s emergency departments and remained stable at a high level among SOS Médecins. The number of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age is increasing. The trends observed are similar to those seen during the 2021–2022 season. According to data from the Lille University Hospital laboratory (data from the Amiens University Hospital not available for weeks 42 and 43 of 2023), the number of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) isolates was sharply increasing compared to the previous week.

Influenza

  • Non-epidemic phase.

  • Seekings of medical care for influenza-like illnesses remain at a low and stable level at SOS Médecins and in emergency departments. The incidence rate of influenza-like illness estimated by the Sentinelles network was stable compared to week 42. Among hospitalized patients, two influenza viruses, type A (not subtyped), were isolated at the Lille University Hospital (data from the Amiens University Hospital not available in weeks 42 and 43 of 2023).

COVID-19

  • Viral circulation is decreasing.

  • Seekings of care for suspected Covid-19 are stable in emergency departments and declining at SOS Médecins.

Gastroenteritis

  • Moderate activity.

  • In week 43, healthcare visits for acute gastroenteritis were decreasing at SOS Médecins and stable in emergency departments. The incidence of acute diarrhea estimated by the Sentinelles network was also stable. In week 43, only rotaviruses were isolated at the Lille University Hospital (data from the Amiens University Hospital not available for weeks 42 and 43 of 2023).
