COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Hauts-de-France Region, July 8, 2021
Key Points
A resurgence of viral circulation across the entire region for the first time in several weeks, particularly among young adults (ages 20–29). Meanwhile, pressure on hospital care capacity continues to decrease.
Heightened vigilance is required in the Somme department, where the reproduction number is significantly higher than 1, highlighting the resurgence of the epidemic in this department, and where several clusters involving the Delta variant are currently being managed.
There has been a sharp increase in the prevalence of viral strains carrying the L452R mutation (found in the Delta variant) across the entire region, particularly in the Somme department.
Vaccination as of July 6: more than one in two residents (51.9%) has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and nearly four in ten (38.5%) have completed their vaccination series.
