COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Hauts-de-France Region as of December 29, 2022

Key Points

  • The epidemic is subsiding in Hauts-de-France, but viral circulation remains high among those over 65 (incidence rate ≈500 cases/100,000 inhabitants).

  • In urban areas, the number of people seeking care for suspected Covid-19 is decreasing in the regions covered by SOS Médecins.

  • In hospitals, the number of new admissions is now declining (in both general and critical care units). In emergency departments, the number of visits for suspected COVID-19 continues to rise, but the proportion of related activity remains stable, while the number and proportion of hospitalizations following visits for suspected COVID-19 continue to increase.

  • Currently, only one-third of people over the age of 60 (fewer than one in five people over the age of 80) have “up-to-date” vaccination protection against Covid-19 or protection adapted to the Omicron variants.
