COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Hauts-de-France Region as of December 1, 2022

Key Points

  • In week 47, virological indicators (all tests combined (PCR+TAG) as well as those calculated based on antigen tests alone) confirm the resurgence of epidemic activity in the Hauts-de-France region.

  • In urban areas, consultations for acute respiratory infections (all etiologies combined) remain sharply elevated for the fourth consecutive week (Sentinelles Network), while requests for care due to suspected COVID-19 are declining among SOS Médecins.

  • In hospitals, the number of new admissions to intensive care for suspected COVID-19 is declining and the number of admissions to general wards is stable, while the number of new emergency room visits is rising again.

  • This fall, the COVID-19 vaccine booster campaign is being conducted alongside the seasonal flu campaign for at-risk individuals. Currently, only 33.7% of people aged 60–79 and 11.5% of those over 80 have up-to-date COVID-19 vaccine protection, but less than 10% of those over 60 have received the booster vaccine tailored to the Omicron variants.
