Asthma, Allergies, and Conjunctivitis in the Hauts-de-France Region. Update as of June 20, 2023.

Key Points

  • In the Hauts-de-France region, given the current weather and air quality conditions (high temperatures, thunderstorms, the presence of allergenic grass pollen, and ozone pollution), there has been a marked increase in asthma-related visits to emergency departments and SOS Médecins clinics in the region, particularly among people aged 15 and older.

  • Although declining for SOS Médecins, the number of people seeking care for allergies remains high but similar to levels observed in previous years during the same period. The number of people seeking care for conjunctivitis (infectious and/or allergic) is stabilizing but remains high compared to previous years.

  • Given the expected continuation of current weather and air quality conditions over the coming weeks, these findings should prompt the utmost vigilance, particularly among the most vulnerable individuals.
