Monitoring of Seasonal Illnesses in Martinique. Update as of November 30, 2015.

Situation Analysis

Flu-like IllnessesAll indicators of flu-like illnesses have been rising over the past five weeks (in primary care and emergency departments), though they remain below the maximum values expected for the season. However, no influenza virus has been isolated so far.

GastroenteritisThe rise in the number of patients seeking care from primary care physicians for gastroenteritis, combined with sustained activity in pediatric emergency departments, calls for increased vigilance over the next two weeks.

Bronchiolitis: Epidemiological surveillance indicators for bronchiolitis are on the rise. The expected number of cases estimated by the sentinel physician network exceeded the maximum expected level for the season in week S2015-47. The first RSV was isolated by the CHUM virology laboratory in week S2015-45.
