Situation Analysis

Flu-like IllnessesFlu activity has been increasing over the past two weeks, and an epidemic was declared in week S2016-03. Several influenza viruses have been isolated by the CNR Influenza and the CHUM Virology Laboratory (primarily A and B).

Gastroenteritis: Gastroenteritis activity is increasing in private practice and remains high in pediatric emergency department visits. The situation should be monitored over the coming weeks.

Bronchiolitis: Epidemiological surveillance indicators for bronchiolitis remain above expected peak levels, but the epidemic is slowing down. RSV is still being isolated daily by the CHUM virology laboratory.

Chickenpox: The epidemiological situation regarding chickenpox is calm.
