Influenza Outbreak Update in French Guiana. As of March 1, 2012. 

During the month of January, an increase in the weekly number of influenza-like illnesses was observed, with cases exceeding expected peak levels during the first week of February. Since then, flu activity has remained stable and sustained, particularly in the municipality of Cayenne. The A/H1N1pdm2009 and seasonal A/H3 influenza viruses have been identified in Saint-Laurent, Cayenne, and Matoury. This trend marks the start of the seasonal epidemic in the department.
