Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Circulation of the chikungunya virus in the West, Maroni, and Oyapock sectors was low during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of October (S2015-42 and 43).During the same period, this was also the case on the island of Cayenne; however, since the sentinel physician network was incomplete during the third week of October, these data should be interpreted with caution and confirmed in the coming weeks.

In the Kourou area, the chikungunya virus continues to circulate at levels higher than those observed at the start of the epidemic. This geographic area therefore remains in an epidemic phase.
