Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Areas with ongoing outbreaks: The weekly number of clinically suspected chikungunya cases has remained moderate and fluctuating in the Kourou area.

Areas with moderate local transmission of the virus: In areas where the chikungunya outbreak has ended (Cayenne Island, Western French Guiana, and Maroni), circulation of the chikungunya virus is currently low and stable. Outbreaks have been identified on Cayenne Island. In St. Georges and other municipalities that have never experienced an epidemic, no confirmed cases have been recorded for several weeks.
