Summary of the 2011 heat wave monitoring in the Alsace region for the period from June 1 to August 31, 2011.

Summary:

  • Both departments in the region remained on seasonal alert.

  • Health indicators did not significantly exceed established thresholds, with the exception of the indicator "number of calls for all causes to SOS Médecins Strasbourg," which exceeded the established threshold on August 13, 14, and 15 for reasons unrelated to the heat.

  • No specific health issues related to the heat were noted.

The summer of 2011 was marked by average temperatures that were generally below seasonal norms, though there were two heat waves: the first occurred from June 25 to 29 and the second from August 17 to 24 across the country. All Alsatian departments remained at the seasonal alert level of the heatwave plan between June 1 and August 31. However, 12 French departments moved to the MIGA level during the second heatwave.

Once again this year, the mobilization of partners called upon to implement this monitoring system enabled the Cire to continuously track health indicators.
