Public Health Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Epidemiological Update as of March 22, 2012. 

Key Developments

  • The flu epidemic continues in Lorraine. Flu-related activity in emergency departments continues to rise moderately, while activity reported by the SOS Médecins association in Meurthe-et-Moselle remains stable. Nationally, flu activity has been declining for the past three weeks.

  • The virus circulating this season is predominantly type A(H3N2) and is antigenically different from the vaccine strain.

  • Bronchiolitis-related activity continues to decline. It is still being observed in emergency departments, but no patients were diagnosed by the SOS Médecins association in Meurthe-et-Moselle during week 11.

  • Gastroenteritis activity continues in the Lorraine region.
