Public Health Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Epidemiological Update as of January 10, 2013.
Key Findings
An increase in the number of diagnoses of influenza and influenza-like illnesses was observed in private practice and in emergency departments across the region during Christmas week.
In France, the influenza epidemic threshold was exceeded in week 52. According to data from the hospital laboratory network (RENAL) and the Grog Network, the influenza viruses circulating this year are type A and type B.
The number of cases of bronchiolitis and bronchitis among children under 2 years of age is trending downward in week 01, both for the SOS Médecins association in Meurthe-et-Moselle and for emergency departments in Lorraine. In France, visits to hospital emergency departments for infant bronchiolitis are also currently decreasing.
In mainland France, the Sentinelles network reports that the epidemic threshold for acute gastroenteritis was exceeded in week 52. Regional indicators are also on the rise.
