Key Points
Influenza: The 2018–2019 epidemic lasted 8 weeks in the Grand Est region. It had a significant impact, particularly in hospitals (3,975 emergency department visits for flu-like illness), with a higher rate of hospitalization following emergency department visits for flu-like illness compared to the previous two years (22% versus 17% in the previous two years).
Bronchiolitis: The course of the outbreak was similar to previous years, beginning at the usual time (late November) and lasting 11 weeks, but its intensity was slightly higher, with a more pronounced peak.
Acute gastroenteritis (AGE): activity was moderate to high throughout the season. Hospitalizations following visits to the emergency department for AGE mainly involved children under 5 years of age.
Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning: From October 1, 2018, to April 30, 2019, 120 incidents were recorded, affecting 394 people, two of whom died.
