Heatwave in the Grand-Est region. Summer 2021 summary.

From June 1 to September 15, 2021, the Grand Est region experienced a heat wave from June 16 to 19.
Two departments were affected during this period: Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin
During the heat wave, an increase in the use of emergency department services at healthcare facilities and SOS Médecins for heat-related conditions was observed across all age groups
The age groups most affected were those aged 15–74 for SOS Médecins consultations and emergency room visits, and those aged 75 and older for hospitalizations
An excess mortality of 22 [16–31] deaths was observed during the heatwave in the region.
