Health Surveillance in the Grand Est Region. Epidemiological Update as of November 3, 2016.
Key Points
Enhanced Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in France
Between May 1 and October 27, 2016, 10 confirmed imported cases of dengue and 19 confirmed imported cases of Zika were reported in Bas-Rhin (the only department under enhanced surveillance in the Grand Est region).
Surveillance of gastroenteritis
Gastroenteritis activity in the Grand Est region remains higher than what was observed in previous years during the same period, both in emergency departments and among SOS Médecins associations.
After peaking in week 42 (October 17–23), activity related to acute gastroenteritis from these two data sources decreased in week 43 across all departments in the Grand Est region.
High activity is also observed according to data from the Sentinelles Network.
Bronchiolitis Surveillance
Since the beginning of September, activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age has been increasing for both data sources.
However, in week 43 (October 24–30, 2016), activity was below the regional alert level in the Grand Est region.
Mortality Surveillance
According to available data, mortality rates for all ages and among people aged 75 and older observed over the past few weeks are consistent with seasonal norms.
