Epidemiological surveillance in the Lorraine region. Update as of January 23, 2014.
Key Points
The flu epidemic has not yet begun in Lorraine, as is the case in France. Activity in Lorraine’s emergency departments and at SOS Médecins 54 for flu and flu-like symptoms remains very low.
A high number of ICU admissions for the flu is being observed nationwide, even though the epidemic threshold has not yet been reached.
Since October 1, the majority of influenza viruses identified in mainland France and Alsace have been type A.
Activity related to bronchiolitis is beginning to decline sharply.
Activity related to gastroenteritis remains at a relatively high level but is consistent with that observed during the same period last season.
