Key Highlights

• Nationally, the Unified Influenza Network has recorded a significant increase in consultations for flu-like symptoms, causing the epidemic threshold to be exceeded in week 05.

• In Lorraine, data from the Unified Influenza Network indicate that the epidemic threshold has been crossed. An increase in activity at SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle has also been observed; however, emergency departments have not yet been impacted.

• Over the past two weeks, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remains the most frequently identified virus in respiratory specimens sent to the virology laboratory at Nancy University Hospital.

• After a brief lull, activity related to bronchiolitis has been on the rise again over the past two weeks and still accounts for more than 15% of all diagnoses coded in emergency departments for children under 2 years of age.

• Activity related to gastroenteritis remains at a high level, with more than a hundred weekly diagnoses made by both the emergency departments in Lorraine and the SOS Médecins 54 association.
