Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of May 2, 2013.

Key Highlights

  • At both the national and regional levels, the 2012–2013 flu season is coming to an end. A few sporadic cases may still be diagnosed.

  • Compared to the 2011-2012 season, the impact of the 2012-2013 flu epidemic was much more pronounced at both the regional and national levels.

  • In Week 17, the activity of the SOS Médecins association in Strasbourg is still heavily impacted by gastroenteritis, which is the most commonly diagnosed condition over the past two weeks. In contrast, the impact on the activity of the Mulhouse association appears to be starting to decrease.

  • A sharp increase in allergy diagnoses has been observed over the past two weeks for both SOS Médecins associations in the region.

  • According to the alert map from the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), Alsace is at moderate allergy risk for the period from April 26 to May 3, 2013, with birch pollen present in Strasbourg.
