Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of May 16, 2013.
Key Developments
Over the past few weeks, a decline in the proportion of cases related to gastroenteritis and diarrhea within the total caseload of the SOS Médecins associations in Alsace has been observed.
Since week 16, the number of asthma diagnoses made by the SOS Médecins association in Strasbourg has remained fairly high, which is not the case for the association in Mulhouse.
Regarding allergies, the number of diagnoses remains high for both associations in the region, with a very sharp peak in week 17 for the Haut-Rhin association.
According to the alert map from the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), Alsace is at moderate allergy risk for the period from May 10 to 17, 2013. Vigilance must therefore be maintained.
Regarding the surveillance of emerging respiratory viruses, there are no confirmed cases as of today.
