Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of May 13, 2015.

Key Points

  • An outbreak of measles in the Haut-Rhin department is currently under investigation.

  • The number of allergy diagnoses made by the SOS Médecins d'Alsace associations is within the usual seasonal fluctuations. This condition accounted for between 2.5% and 2.8% of the associations’ activity in week 19.

  • After a peak in week 17 (23 diagnoses), the number of asthma diagnoses by the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association has been decreasing over the past two weeks. In week 19, this condition thus accounted for less than 1% of the association’s activity. Regarding the SOS Médecins de Mulhouse association, the number of asthma diagnoses remained below 15 in weeks 18 and 19 and accounted for approximately 2% of activity.

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk is moderate in both departments of Alsace.

  • The weekly number of gastroenteritis and diarrhea diagnoses made by the SOS Médecins associations in the region has been decreasing over the past two weeks. These conditions account for 7.3% of SOS Médecins Mulhouse’s caseload and 8% of that of the Strasbourg association. This downward trend is confirmed by data from the HUS virology laboratory. Since week 16, only rotaviruses and adenoviruses have been isolated by the laboratory.
