Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of July 4, 2013.
Key Points
The two departments in Alsace moved to Level 2 of the heat wave plan on June 18, 19, and 20. An increase in diagnoses of heat-related conditions was observed during this period. However, these diagnoses accounted for no more than 5% of the associations’ activity. Thus, no overall increase in the associations’ activity was observed during this same period.
After a peak in the number of allergy diagnoses observed in week 23 across the two departments, the trend over the past two weeks has been downward.
According to the alert map from the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the entire Alsace region is at high risk for grass pollen allergies for the period from June 28 to July 5, 2013.
Asthma-related activity for the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association has decreased significantly, while it remains stable for the Mulhouse association.
