Incidence of Acute Respiratory Infections in Nursing Homes in the Centre-Val de Loire Region. Bulletin of December 6, 2024.

Key Points

Since September 30, 2024, 53 clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) have occurred in nursing homes for the elderly (EHPAD) and have been reported via the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s national reporting portal (https://signalement.socialsante.gouv.fr/).

Among all these outbreaks, etiological investigations were conducted for 49 (92%) of them:

  • SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) was one of the etiologies identified by the reporting entity in 37 of the 49 episodes analyzed. It was the sole etiology in 33 episodes.

  • An influenza virus (flu) was one of the etiologies reported by the reporting entity in 2 episodes but never as the sole etiology.

  • No episode was related to RSV.

  • In total, for 5 episodes, more than one etiology was selected.
