Heat and Health in the Centre-Val de Loire Region. A Review of the Summer of 2025.

In the Centre-Val de Loire region:
860 visits to hospital emergency rooms due to heat-related issues were recorded during the summer (567 of which resulted in hospitalization), 8% of which occurred during heat waves. All age groups were affected, primarily people aged 75 and older, followed by those aged 15–74. For SOS Médecins, 47 heat-related cases were recorded over the summer, 14 of which occurred during heat waves.
Heat-related mortality is estimated at 204 deaths over the entire summer (2.9% of all-cause mortality observed), including 36 deaths during heatwave episodes (8.7% of all-cause mortality observed during these episodes). More than three-quarters of these deaths (77%) involved people aged 75 and older over the entire summer, and more than 80% (83%) during heatwave episodes.
