Key Points

Invasive Meningococcal Infections (IMI)

  • In Brittany, 24 cases of IIM were reported throughout 2024. Since the beginning of 2025 and as of February 26, 2025, 17 cases have already been recorded, including 11 in Ille-et-Vilaine.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Epidemic activity.

  • Decline in the monitored epidemic indicators. Detection of influenza A and influenza B viruses is decreasing, according to the Virology Laboratory at Rennes University Hospital. According to the Virology Laboratory at Brest University Hospital, there has been a decrease in the detection of influenza A virus and a slight increase in the detection of influenza B virus.

Bronchiolitis

  • No epidemic activity.

  • Decrease in RSV detection according to the Virology Laboratories at the Rennes University Hospital and the Brest University Hospital. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.

Pneumonia

  • Decrease in visits to hospital emergency departments and calls to SOS Médecins.

  • Utilization remains high among adults.

Gastroenteritis

  • Moderate activity.

  • Indicators show a slight increase in the number of emergency room visits and a decrease in the number of SOS Médecins consultations.
