Key Points

Asthma

  • High volume of pediatric emergency room visits.

  • Oscour®: stable emergency department visits with 170 visits in S41, all ages combined. Children under 15 account for 70% of cases (compared to 59% in S40). Asthma accounts for 3.3% of emergency department visits in this age group.

  • SOS Médecins: Stable number of SOS Médecins consultations for asthma in Q4 with 50 consultations (compared to 42 in Q3). Children under 15 account for 28% of cases.

Bronchiolitis

  • Oscour®: sharp increase in the number of emergency room visits for bronchiolitis compared to the previous week (101 in Week 41 vs. 64 in Week 40). In Week 41, bronchiolitis accounted for 12.8% of emergency room visits for children under 2 years of age (compared to 8.7% in Week 40), and 46% of these visits resulted in hospitalization (compared to 31% in Week 40). This is the second most common condition in this age group.

  • SOS Médecins: increase in SOS Médecins consultations. This condition accounts for 8.9% of diagnoses in children under 2 years of age.

Covid-19

  • Oscour®: The number of visits has stabilized compared to the previous week (167 visits in Week 41 versus 181 in Week 40); 49% of these visits resulted in hospitalization. Suspected COVID-19 cases account for 1% of emergency department activity across all age groups.

  • SOS Médecins: The number of SOS Médecins consultations remained stable compared to the previous week (177 consultations in Week 41 versus 185 in Week 40). Across all age groups, suspected COVID-19 cases accounted for 4.4% of SOS Médecins activity in Week 41 (versus 4.7% in Week 40).

Influenza

  • Non-epidemic activity. Activity remains low. No detection of influenza A or B viruses according to data from the virology laboratories at the Brest and Rennes University Hospitals.

  • Oscour®: indicators showing low activity related to influenza and flu-like syndromes. This condition accounts for less than 1% of diagnoses across all age groups.

  • SOS Médecins: increase in the number of consultations for influenza and influenza-like illnesses, with 142 consultations, representing 3.6% of total activity.
