Key Points

Asthma

  • High volume of pediatric emergency room visits as schools reopen.

Bronchiolitis

  • Non-epidemic activity. Stable number of emergency department visits compared to the previous week. Increase in RSV detection according to the Virology Laboratory at Brest University Hospital in week 40. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.

COVID-19

  • Oscour®: Decrease in the number of emergency department visits compared to the previous week (180 visits in Week 40 versus 214 in Week 39, a decrease of 15.9%), affecting those under 45 years of age; 55% of these visits resulted in hospitalization. Suspected COVID-19 cases accounted for 1.1% of emergency department activity across all age groups.

  • SOS Médecins: Decrease in the number of SOS Médecins consultations in Week 40 (185 consultations compared to 250 in Week 39, a decrease of 26.0%), affecting all age groups. Across all age groups, suspected COVID-19 cases accounted for 4.7% of SOS Médecins activity in Week 40 (compared to 6.1% in Week 39).

Influenza

  • Non-epidemic activity. Upward trend in SOS Médecins consultations and emergency room visits for flu-like symptoms. Very sporadic detection of influenza A virus according to virology data from Rennes University Hospital (no detection according to data from Brest University Hospital).
